Work Study Program

  /  Work Study Program

Fletcher Academy endeavors to teach our students that one of life’s true aims is to honor the Maker in doing our part of the world’s work. We strive to instill the value of work and develop strong work ethics in each of our students. We believe that students must be taught that life requires earnest work and responsibility.

Fletcher Academy believes that learning to work, to be punctual, and to faithfully perform assigned duties is as much a part of education as any other aspect of school life. Fletcher makes provision for all students to acquire work skills while enrolled at Fletcher Academy. The freshmen are enrolled in a class designed to teach them not only soft skills that are useful in any line of work, but also specific skills in the areas of food service, janitorial, maintenance, and office work. Once the freshman complete this year of training and introduction to work, they are eligible to enter our work force as sophomores, juniors, and Seniors.

Work education continues to be a hallmark of our success as an organization committed to making a difference in the lives of students. We are uniquely positioned with enough employment opportunities to keep our entire student body either employed or enrolled in meaningful career education opportunities.

The Corporate Structure

Fletcher Academy, Incorporated (FAI), founded in 1910, is a non-profit corporation that provides the business framework for a unique operating structure. This structure includes two independent Christian schools that provide a distinctly Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) education as well as several businesses dedicated to furthering Christian Adventist education. FAI, whose motto is “Christian Businesses for Christian Education,” manages these businesses that not only serve our community but also provide the opportunity for students to earn a portion of their tuition while giving them real-life work experiences. FAI owns and operates both Captain Gilmer Christian School (CGCS), grades pre K – 8, and Fletcher Academy (FA), grades 9 – 12.

FA is fully funded by the combination of tuition, income from the businesses of FAI, and contributions made by dedicated alumni and friends.
